Puppies for adoption

Fortunately five puppies found furever homes today, but three boys remain at the shelter for adoption.

Adoptions are always low - only $35. The shelter will work with the new owners post-adoption to set up neuter appointments. Unfortunately due to limited resources and kennel space, they're unable to alter the dogs prior to adoption.

The Citizens Committee for the Lakewood Animal Shelter (CCLAS) is sponsoring its ninth annual ‘Hair of the Dog’ Happy Hour and Silent Auction on Thursday, May 23.

Through their generosity and your support, CCLAS is able continue our vital role helping to find homes for homeless pets, fostering abandoned and orphaned litters, and spaying and neutering Lakewood’s dogs and cats, in order to minimize the overpopulation of homeless animals on the streets and at the shelter.

Click here to preview some of the lots highlighted on our Facebook page.

This event draws more than 100 local supporters and raises up to $5000! The auction will feature a range of gift packages, including distinctive merchandise and services, animal-related products, dinners, and tickets to cultural and sporting events.

This is the best silent auction in town!  Check out our website at www.cclashappyhour.com or visit www.cclas.info/events to purchase your advance tickets!  All tickets purchased in advance will come with three complimentary Chinese auction raffle tickets.

Be an Angel for the Homeless Cats and Dogs in Lakewood!

Spread holiday cheer and help a homeless pet in need! Honor your own furry angel by donating $5.00 to the Citizens Committee for the Lakewood Animal Shelter (CCLAS) Angel Trees. CCLAS will add an ornament with your pet's name at the Angel Tree location of your choice, the Lakewood Public Library or Pets General Store. Donations can be sent via PayPal, mailed in via a brochure from the Lakewood Public Library, or made in person at Pets General Store.

All donations are used to help with adoption efforts, spay and neuter costs, foster care programs and improving the general living conditions at the Lakewood Animal Shelter.

The underlying mission of CCLAS is to improve and protect the lives of Lakewood's companion pet population. By providing volunteer and financial resources, CCLAS aides in the adoption of abandoned animals, including, but not limited to, cats and dogs, and aides in their well being during their stay at the Lakewood Animal Shelter.

ACO Laurie Calvey helped out this shy young female lab mix by giving her a bath since her fur was matted down with bubble gum. Fortunately, the lab was adopted on Thursday and hopefully her paw-tastic personality will shine (along with her new clean coat :)
