Happy St. Patrick's Day. Here’s an update about our Patty from his foster mom:
"It's been very touch and go; he has been very uncomfortable, other than keeping the lights off and the place quiet, there's not much I can do to that soothes him. He’s not sleeping well, so neither am I. His temperament has been really affected, but considering all the trauma he has endured in a short amount of time, it is to be expected. He'll eat a little bit of wet just twice a day. Sometimes he hops, sometimes he scoots, but mostly he cries for me to pick him up & take him to his food, litter box or basket. He reluctantly lets me change his dressings."
As of Monday morning, we readmitted Patrick back to LAH for wound care. He had pulled the stitches from his tail and we were concerned about an infection. He's expected to stay there for at least a few days.
Thank you for those who inquired about adopting Patrick. We have a few names on the list, but right now, we're focused on Patrick's recovery and hope to start the adoption review process in a month or so. We need time to assess what Patrick's personality will be like post-op, in order to match him to the appropriate home. When he's ready, we'll send out our CCLAS adoption inquiry forms to the interested adopters. (BTW, he lost one back leg, not both.)
Please click here to make an online donation toward Patrick's care; or visit the Lakewood Animal Hospital or Lakewood Animal Shelter. Thank you.

Violet's Second Chance
We spoke with Dr. Rog this week at the Lakewood Animal Hospital about Violet's eye.
When Violet was hit by a car last November, the right side of her head probably had contact with the tire which caused her jaw and eye injury. Although Dr. Rog still feels her eye may heal over time, but it's difficult to determine if she can see from her right eye or if she will require surgery, in the future.

Timing is running out...
Timing is running out for Olivia at the Lakewood Animal Shelter. She's been waiting for her new family for the past month. Unfortuately, the shelter only has 10 cages and they are unable to keep cats for an unlimited amount of time. Olivia is outgoing, loves catnip, and would fair well as an indoor outdoor cat. Ask for collar 150.

Cat of the Week: Hera. Available for adoption in Lakewood.
Hera is a beautiful tortoiseshell manx feline who would make the perfect addition to any household! Hera came to us in mid-June and was already spayed. She gets along well with other cats, but has her moments of "manx" sass and tortitude! Hera has an unique stumpy manx tail, as you can see in the first photo. Call the Lakewood Animal Shelter at 520.5020 to learn more about her purrsonality. Ask about collar 130.

Poor Grady
Poor Grady, collar 100, was admitted to Westpark Animal Hospital today, with a lingering URI. He's also dehydrated, thin with conjunctivitis.
Dr. Nicole is hopeful that he'll make a full cover after some TLC medical attention.

Meet the real Blues Brothers, Jake and Elwood. These litter mates have been in a funk ever since their owner, abandoned them out on the street to fend for themselves for the past 3 weeks, before moving out of the country. Both are neutered, approximately 2-3 years old and very very sweet!
