Rosie! Our Polydactyl Princess

Sweet Rosie was rescued from Cove Street where she was hiding under a bleacher. She spent most of young life indoors, but her neglected owner did not spay her. CCLAS is hoping to have her spayed the week of Feb 14. She appears in great health and is very outgoing and photogenic!

Rosie is a special Poldactyl kitty.

In personality and care requirements, American Polydactyl Cats are much like any other cat. Many owners who have a 'thumb cat' have made the observation, however, that their American Polydactyl cats seem to have a more relaxed and mellow personality than other cats they have owned. These cats are quite hardy and can survive even in snowy weather. American Polydactyl Cats adapt very well to indoor or outdoor life, or a combination of the two. They make outgoing pets, and are reported to be affectionate and patient even towards children.

In size, American Polydactyl Cats are medium to large with bodies strong and muscular in appearance. Thumb cat head is broad, with a modified stop, and medium in size. Mitten cat nose and muzzle is medium sized and the chin has a squared appearance. The wide-set ears have pointy tips. Occasionally, American Polydactyl Cats used for stud purposes have very well developed cheeks. The rounded eyes of American Polydactyls are set at an angle, and any color or color combination is acceptable. This is true also of coat color and fur length, so long as the hairs lie close to the body.

This kitty is available for adoption at the Lakewood Animal Shelter, located in the Cleveland Metroparks, on Cleveland Metroparks Drive (Valley Parkway) just south of the Dog Park. Adoption fees are only $35. Includes deworming medicines, initial vaccination, capstar flea pill (seasonal), a collar with identification tag, a cardboard carrier, initial veterinarian visit with second vaccination from participating local veterinarian and a spay/neuter certificate valued at $75, redeemable at most local veterinarian. Adoption hours are Tuesdays & Thursday 12 to 6, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 12-4. Please visit our website at http://www.cclas.info and our blog at http://cclaspets.blogspot.com/

The shelter has gone to the DOGS!

The shelter has FOUR dogs available for adoption. One small, one medium, one large and one girl! Unfortunately, no one is spayed or neutered yet. A trip to the veterinarian upon adoption is highly recommended! To learn more about their personalities, call the shelter at (216) 529-5020

Meet the CCLAS foster kitties

CCLAS has four wonderful foster kitties up for adoption. Like many of our shelter kitties, all of our foster kitties are spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations including rabies, no fleas or ear mites, dewormed, trimmed nails, tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV and have been treated for any minor alignments like upper respiratory disease and parasites. Everyone's healthy and ready for their fur-ever home!

The best part of adopting from one our foster homes we know first hand their personalities and quirks since we've been living with them for months. Everyone is house-trained and uses their litter boxes and scratching post.

Stunning, outgoing! Reese was in foster care nursing a young orphan kitten but she's now up for adoption through CCLAS. She tested NEGATIVE for Feline Leukemia and FIV. VERY playful and outgoing around people. Likes lots of attention. Probably will do well in a household with older kids. Reese loves playing fetch with a paper ball. She'll crawl into bed at night with you and under the blankets if you let her. She's a pro at using her scratching post and we've never had a problem with her scratching at our furniture.

Mystic has been with in foster care since last summer. She's really come out of her shell! She loves people and is very friendly, but she has some anxiety about other animals. She would do very well in a one-pet household. She is already spayed and up-to-date on her vaccinations. Please contact cclasfoster@yahoo.com to meet her!

Olive is a sweet and special kitty. Very friendly, staff favorite at the local animal hospital. She was adopted from the shelter in early September, but her adopted family never took her to see a veterinarian for an initial exam and returned her when she went into "heat" last month. She's now update to date on her vaccines, including rabies, recently placed into foster care to recoup. She tested negative for heartworms, feline leukemia and FIV.

This is Lark! She is available for adoption through CCLAS' Foster Care program. She's a beautiful, female black domestic short hair. Lark is an adult (and a little on the chubby side), who LOVES any attention she can get! Good think her silky soft fur is so easy to pet! Ask for collar #4. She's spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and tested NEGATIVE for Feline Leukemia and FIV. If you are interested in learning more about Ms. Lark, please contact cclasfoster@yahoo.com.

We are anxious to find our foster kitties' their new homes before spring. We would like our foster families to have a break before kitten season starts.

Adoption fees are low. Only $35 for qualified purrfect homes.

Email us at cclasfoster@yahoo.com to set up a meet & greet at their foster homes.
